Noticed some black spots on my clown yesterday, any idea what it could be?

Look into two possible things:
First, make sure it isn't black ich. Turbellarian infection is commonly referred to as “Black Ich”. Caused by flatworm.
Second, corals such as hammers can sting fish and the stung area looks black. Is perhaps your clown using a coral as a host? It is called Clownfish HyperMelanization.

The only thing I can think may be stinging him is a duncan or hairy mushroom, I doubt it is the mushroom due to where it is in the tank
