Should I take these out or still hold on to a glimmer of hope?

dwarf ceriths are what the snails look like to me. I agree with the others. I'd get rid of all but the green plate fungia.

They have been dead since I received them. I was told it would not hurt to leave them and maybe they would come back. Now it is time to clean up and make room for new arrivals.

While they are dead as far as the original coral goes, there is usually no harm leaving them in the tank. They can come in handy for a base if your fragging soft corals, and sometimes they have other live on them. Unless you consider them unsightly, or need the space, you can just leave them where they are.
