Anyone use a Algae Turf Scrubber? Do you recommend them?

I am thinking about building a new sump. I am in the process of designing it, but I heard some talk about an Algae Turf Scrubber, and I was wondering if I should include this into my plans?

Ive been using one for quite some time and everything has been going fine...i have fan worms and all the other microscopic critters growing like crazy and also an increase in coral growth... however u must maintain regular water checks especially pH. if u plan on using a skimmer i probably wouldnt bother with a scrubber cause they kinda work against each other... u could use them together for a short time but in the end its either one or the other

Bottom line, I believe algae scrubbing can be a worthwhile addition to a reef system. I do not believe it gives best results when used alone. I do not believe that skimming and algae scrubbing work against each other. I also do not believe a lot of the hype written about algae scrubbing.

Add algae scrubbing to your system the same way and for the same reasons you would use a refugium growing macro algae. In other words, it's desirable to have, but you can have an excellent reef without one.
