AI Sol Blue Lighting Schedule

I'm a big fan of RS since I joined in April. I usually check this web site everyday to gleam knowledge from your archives and enjoy a good laugh at your group's sense of humor. One area that I haven't seen any info on was what kind of lighting schedule do you use with the AI Sol Blue LED system. So... to any of you out there that has this light how about sharing with me how you set up your timing schedules and the percentages you use. thanks.

I've had my eye on this light and will probably buy one with the controller. Doesn't the controller have 14 programable settings to gradually increase and decrease the light cycle? I'm giving this one a bump....

I just have one, about 5-6 inches above the water (34g tank), with all 70 degree optics, and using the AI controller. This is my current schedule - all still have the default 5 minute ramp time:

W B RB
07:30 AM 0% 0% 10%
08:00 AM 5% 10% 10%
09:00 AM 10% 15% 15%
10:00 AM 20% 25% 25%
11:00 AM 25% 30% 30%
12:00 PM 30% 40% 40%
06:00 PM 25% 30% 30%
07:00 PM 20% 25% 25%
08:00 PM 10% 15% 15%
09:00 PM 5% 10% 10%
09.30 PM 0% 0% 10%
10:00 PM Lunar Cycle on - 6% max RB

Thanks for the info Reefmack. I also have only one unit over a 29g tank, with the standard 70 degree on the corners and 40 degrees in the center. I have been
thinking of switching the center to the 70's so it isn't so spotlight in the center. Mine is 12" from the water line and I'm also using the default 5 min ramp time.

W B RB
9:00 AM 20% 20% 20%
10:00 AM 25% 25% 25%
11:00 AM 35% 35% 35%
12:00 PM 50% 50% 50%
4:00 PM 35% 35% 35%
5:00 PM 25% 30% 30%
6:00 PM 20% 25% 25%
7:00 PM 15% 20% 20%
8:00 PM 0% 20% 20%
9:00 PM Lunar cycle on 4% max B RB

I had to raise mine to 12" to cover the 30 length and I see I'm pretty close to what your doing.

The 70 degree optics do help eliminate a lot of that spotlight in the center, but at 12" it may not be as bad as it would be as low as mine is. Unless things have changed you have to get the 70s direct from AI. When I got mine it was $25 for a set of 4. I started up all 70. The programmability of these things is what sold me on the Sol.

+1 on the controller... free firmware updates, set it and forget it, but I did have to turn off the lightning effect. I forgot about it and it scared the crap out me while I was watching a horror movie lol. Thanks for the info on getting the 70% optics...I take it that you have to create a service ticket ?

I have 2 units over my 250 gallon, I will upgrade to 4 units eventually. They are about 12" above the water surface using stock optics.

I am controlling with my Apex controller. Once I have 4 modules I will add 3 additional controllers for an east - west, sunrise and sunset. The programs below will stay for the right module, then center right will be the same schedule 10 - 15 minutes later, then center left, then left. With the Apex I have to create profiles for start % and end %, and ramp time, and then insert the profile into the time schedule programming. It sounds (and is a little) complicated, but when I add the additional controllers I will just need to cut and paste on the computer and add the 10- 15 minutes.

Here is a cut and paste from my Apex:

Royal
If Time 09:00 to 11:00 Then DawnBl
If Time 11:00 to 12:30 Then 50%-60%
If Time 12:30 to 13:00 Then 60%-80%
If Time 13:00 to 15:30 Then 80%-100%
If Time 15:30 to 19:40 Then 100%-80%
If Time 19:40 to 20:40 Then 80%-60%
If Time 20:40 to 21:10 Then 60%-50%
If Time 21:10 to 22:20 Then DuskBl
If Time 22:20 to 09:00 Then 1%

Blue
If Time 09:10 to 11:10 Then DawnBl

I never have activated the lightning storm. Yep - you have to create a ticket and they'll give you instructions on where to Paypal the $25.

If I read this correctly the effect that you will have will be like the sun rising at one of your tank and setting at the other end?

Well that is easy enough. I know that you have to be careful with this light especially with anything under the 40 optics. I saw somewhere that they are really easy to replace.

That is correct an "east - west" sunrise & sunset.

I should have added, the intensity will be dialed back with the additional modules.

I am fixing to add 2 of these to my 4x2x2 120 gallon tank. I have no rock just an acrylic rack system for grow out. I will have the standard optics and lights will be 12 to 16 inches above the water.
