I received two Amphiprion latezonatus clowns Saturday, September 5th, from Einstein Aquatics.

I am QT'ing them in their 60 gallon home and added a bold copperband butterfly to help them relax.

I immediately began antibiotics (myracin-two saltwater) because the female had pop-eye in her left eye and had a red streak on her tail. I have also performed one formalin dip (30 minutes) on each fish due to the body discoloration. I will most likely perform 2 more dips...

Both are eating like PIGS and other than a chase every now and then, are getting along very well.

I plan on adding anemones in a few months.

Doni, may I ask a question ? Information is sparse at best with Latezonatus ...

Do female and male have any physical / color differences ?

Or getting a big one and a small one will give good chances , as with all clownfish, to produce a pair ?

PS : Cancel my order for the pair :) sorry, found a importer here in Portugal who sells them... Going to try to breed them, so expect a constant flow of questions in the next few months :)

Proenca - I am not that familiary with Latz. I purchased mine as a pair and they get along fine.

Contagious - Great news!

Lattezonatus are in the Paramphiprion sub genus (saddleback clowns), along with polymnus and sebae. Not a lot of sexual dimorphism there that I know of, and it would be after the switch form male to female in any case.

You do know that these are not tropical clowns? They should be kept in cool water tanks, no more than say 74 degrees?

It has been almost 5 months since I got them and they are doing very well.
Here is a video I took this morning of them.
They are showing great pre-spawning behavior

As the video begins, the female is on the left.
The male is on the right and has a large white band at the end of his tail.

They look 100xs better now, than when you received them. ;) I wasn't sure I liked them from the first pics but they are nice lookiing now.

Great work!
