if you take the exact measurements with you, they will cut the wood for you, for free.
then just get some paint, and small finishing nails. i'd also consider wood glue, and caulking, to go over the nail holes, and in the joints. let it all dry before you paint it!
the total cost should be less than $25 and you wont spend much time doing it if they cut the wood... and it would potentially save you thousands of dollars.
