My journey has come to an end. I've sold my tank. I need money for college.
I got out of the hobby for a few reasons.
The low care for sea life is evident at every fishstore I've been too. Constant disease and death in their tanks.
Also, I read somewhere over 5000 flame Angel are taken every day for retail. If that's true, I can't support this hobby.
I've also volunteered at a wildlife rehab nd I realize we impact nature more than we think. Think about how much life LA takes from the ocean every year.
For me, I'm starting college. I want to learn about these impacts. And someday help reefs stop receding, and also regulate and make reefkeeping sustainable.
For now,if I want to see the ocean I will move near one and snorkel. I can't buy a lion bc I like Africa. And I don't know how I feel about kidnapping wildlife or that it's an unregulated fishing/poaching.
With that said, I wish you all success. This post wasn't political it's simply my reasons for abandoning the hobby and my tank. I may be back someday after a thorough education on life and our environment as well as the impact we have on it.
