Boomer and others that enjoy identification....I have been searching for an ID to these "mystery" shrimp. They were in my overflow box - very small....maybe 5-8 mm or so. My initial thought was something like peppermint shrimp juvi, but I am unsure of their stages. The bright eyes and pattern...
Hey all!
I thought I would share this with you. Back in August I had a mass truchus spawning event. My tank was clouded with gametes from the trochus....and every single trochus was releasing either sperm or eggs. I was thankful for an awesome skimmer, and was/am running a 5 micron filter...
Happy Birthday Curtswearing!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY CURT!!!
Hope you enjoy your day. The little one will want to wish you a happy day, too. I'll try not to bug you too early in the morning :D
It's a birthday, birthday party!
Sorry for posting this in general....if you need to move...
Here is one of 2 that I have found total living on my live rock. Somehow life survived the nasty cesspool that was once a cycling tank. I thought that it was some sort of hydroid, but I wasn't certain hydroids have a hard tube. This critter and the other one retract into their tubes, so I was...
I read this to a friend that insisted I put it on the board. My brother is a Major in the Marines, so I have seen the hard work and dedication it takes to serve our country. Thank you for protecting our country and allowing us to be free! This is pretty cool if you are interested:
Did you...
Yahoo!! Anyone that has followed the building of my mini she-beast, knows it has been a very very very long process. Well, she finally is cycling! Here is the story of my mini-beast! I love her!! Thanks to all here that have given me their input over the past year+ !!

Hey everyone - I love ID threads, but I've been having trouble on this hitchhiker (and it isn't the crab). It is in my sister's tank and came on the crab's shell. It has been described to me as an anemone of some type. The trouble is this is the best picture so far of it, so I haven't...
I just wanted to congratulate all the CPAs on this board for making it through another Tax Season! (At least I hope you made it through) Now, get some sleep!!!
Many of you know that my tank in progress was nearing an end. I was just in the beginning stages of figuring out the plumbing on my tank. Stand was built, tank in place, sump and refugium made, lights hung.....just working on where to have the closed loop. Well, what I wanted to create was...
Multiple Options Available...Please choose your specific gravity, and how you measure. Also, could you include your temp? If you measure by ppt, please indicate which level you shoot for....

With this post, I am officially in the 1000 poster's club. I get to join the ranks of Craig, Curt, Nick and Johnny - amoung many others. I see many others that are almost there, as well.
Yippee! I finally took my first macros. Just want to say a special thanks to Witfull for PSing them for me ;) .
All these pictures were taken with a Canon G3 on Aperture Priority - no flash - aperture set to smallest aperture value (?? on terminology :) ) - in Macro mode. I customized the...
Here is a hitchhiker that has alluded me and my sister's family for over a year. It started out as the tiniest little thing and grew into a brave monster. She would come out lights on, but would run back if she saw us. One evening, I found her after lights off grabbing pinchers full of micro...
What is your favorite aquarium tool or gadget? Something you can't live without. Please explain why it is your favorite, and add anything else that wasn't listed in the poll.
EDIT: I've activated the option to choose more than one, so vote for as many as you like :D
It seems more and more people are switching to bare bottom tanks. I was curious to what you do with clams when there is a lack of substrate? I imagine you give them something to attach to if they aren't up in the rock work. Inform me O-Masters-of Clams....
