Video - Feeding a Copperband Butterflyfish

My 2 yr. old copperband just decided my crocea,s looked yummy. He is very well fed. Loves to eat mysis from my fingers and most other frozen foods. I had just mentioned elsewhere, that he never bothered anything. I spent over a day removing him and most other stuff from my...

    Time for a complete do-over

 Hi Charlie Travis, I downsized a couple of times in the last few years. Both times I hated it and went back to a larger tank. :smack: Cant say why. Perhaps its always the draw of the larger tank and fish. My last was a 90 cube. Easy water changes I though, just as you...

    WOW...Its been a looong time.....

:drooool: What a beautiful aquarium. Nice colours.Just happens to be the identical size I was looking at making. I planed on running a pair of 400w bulbs though, instead of three. I see you went with no front access. How the problems with reach across the 3ft. span. My 24in. was bad...

    Tang Help, Please!

Michael, Its most likely a reaction to the toxin from dead flatworms. I have read hundreds of "exit" posts and never seen the fish suffer from the exit itself. The flatworm toxin however, is another story. The best treatment is to leave him there as you mentioned. Run lots of carbon and...

    Algae scrubber vs Refugium

I do notice more "snot" algae, when my flow is slower. There is a good thread running on Erics forum, {at RC}, regarding the use of calerpa v turf algae. Or even having calerpa type algaes in ones reef tank.

    Algae scrubber vs Refugium

David, the unit I have, is made to sit on the top/back of ones tank. They are a very nice looking piece of equipment, that would match a black acrylic light hood. I have always wondered if a higher flow through the scrubber would be better. Nikki, did you see how much flow Inland was...

    Algae scrubber vs Refugium

Never in my case. Likely because I also run a skimmer. When running the scrubber alone, I also used carbon, so again no water discolouration.

    Algae scrubber vs Refugium

My surge is not to bad, but less than the original. It arrived from Florida, with the body broken into several pieces. After a hopeless battle from here, trying to make a claim, I gave up. We built a new body from glass, so the dump chute is modified. I still use the original dump tray and...

    Algae scrubber vs Refugium

The screen is 10in. by 24in. The scrubber I have is rated for 250g. Currently running on my 75g cube. It was on my 225g reef. I have never had much luck running it alone, as the sole source of filtration. Many others have, esp. Inland Aquatics. Usually I run it in cojunction with a skimmer...

    Algae scrubber vs Refugium

Pic of the screen from my turf scrubber. To understand the difference, one needs to read Adeys book. The turf algae is said to be more efficient, because its turf algae and not a claerpa type algae. {debatable}. It grows on a screen thats barely covered in water. As the screen/tray fills, and...
