WTB: Tried and True breeding clowns

I am looking to buy a pair of proven spawning clowns. A tried and true pair. Looking specifically for Percula, Picasso, B/W, misbars or saddlebacks. Name your price in a PM. But before you do, please be able to show that they are proven egg layers. Thanks!

It tends to be hard to find tried and true pairs of clowns b/c most folks pair up their fish themsleves and wate for them to spawn, and sometimes the pair just will not spawn, or spawn regularly. This is the fact of marine aquaculture.

Your best bet to get a spawning pair is to buy a pair of fish and feed them to saturation on a daily basis. This method works for most people and remember that patience is the virtue that any breeder must have.

honestly, stop the bump.

pair yourself up the clowns.

its easy : get a big one and a small one. feed them heavily, provide a calm tank, wait and voilá.

clowns breed because they are well feed and feel safe.

if you are spending a couple of hundred euros or dollars on a breeding pair and your water quality sucks, you feed them the wrong food they are used to and your tank is full of bully fish they wont spawn

so its silly to buy a breeding pair unless its a rare fish ( mcculochi, etc ) and you are setting up a breeding aquarium for them.

for the 99% majority of mortals, get a clownfish book(s), read all you can, choose your species, get a small ( 20-30g is enough ) tank, get the biggest and the smallest clownfish you can find of the same species and let nature due its course.

feed them a good variety of foods, rotate the foods and feed them heavily.

and you must wait , if they dont feel safe, they wont spawn.

Agreed. It's often like the planets aligning to get a pair of clowns to breed.. everything has to be perfect and there's no sure-fire way to make a pair breed, even if they're known to breed in the past.

Often, I'd bet that if the clowns go from one tank they will breed in and love to another, if it's not to their liking, they probably won't breed. Even the move might upset them enough to not make them breed for a long time. Just get a smaller clown and pair it with a clown that's bigger than it and hope for the best.

There is no shortcut to reef aquariums (or anything in life, really). If you don't do the work, then things just won't work. You can buy a mated pair of clowns, but there's absolutely no guarantee that they will breed in your tank.
