Wood and Glass / Acrylic-faced Sump.

So here's a question you don't get everyday.

I am planning on building my tank against the main wall in my living room. This wall backs up to my furnace / water heater closet on the other side.
The current plan is to keep the DT and refugiums (I am using 2) on the living room side, and the Sump, skimmer, pump, calc reactor, etc on the Furnace-room side. I'll plumb through the wall but I don't want to make it a 'built-in-wall' tank.

My tank is fairly small in water volume given its length. 20" deep x 16" tall x 96" long. I am going to compensate for the water volume by building a monster sump in the Furnace / hot water heater area. I am currently toying with the notion of making the filter out of layered plywood and reinforcing it with 2x4's on 3 sides. Then make the 'face' out of either glass or acrylic.

I would like to know if anyone here has any hands-on experience with bonding glass or acrylic to wood. This is something I have not attempted before.

I am thinking this sump will be something like 36"x36"x60".
