White Stuff growing on my paly or is it a zoa?

Any help identifying this white stuff on the stem is greatly appreciated. It looks nasty to me. Maybe its Paly eggs

That may be part of its mucous layer drying up and breaking down. It also may be just shedding it. It does not look to be like something that is growing based on its appearance.
