What is a good LED system for my tank?

hey guys,
I'm looking to upgrade my VHO lights to LED's. what are some good choices? and My budget is maximum 500$. I have a 46 gallon bow front tank. and im looking to keep a mixed reef with anemones.

whatever you do, I wouldnt try to use ANY type of pendant.


the tank is 36" long, and has a VERY VERY crucial center brace. if you put a powerful MH in the center, you will melt it, and the tank will leak. (unless its mounted at least a foot away from it) if you put a LED pendant on it, it will have a huge shadow in the center of the tank. you are going to need a nice PAIR of LED pendants to get the coverage you need.


purely speaking from experience on this one.
 
i have a glass covering on it so I don't think it will melt and that middle bar piece can't you just cut it off. or could you put a fan to cool it down.

glass cover matters NONE. I had a 250w MH/T5 fixture on my 46 bowfront, and had that same "glass cover" that protects it.


care to guess how that turned out?
