Understanding RAW files

Just read a great article on luminous-landscape.com and thought I'd share ans more people are getting cameras equipped to record the RAW files taken by the camera.

but i'm still not ready to make the jump. i shoot in the largest JPEG available. i know RAW is coming for me....just not quite yet....

Drew, if you have Photoshop CS, make the switch! I did with PS7 and the RAW plug-in and never looked back. Adjusting exposure and white balance after the fact are priceless.... especially when you look at it this way:

In our often low-light situations, imagine underexposing a shot by 1/2-1 stop on purpose (to gain a faster shutter) and then bringing the exposure back up in RAW. You know enough about photography to know light is priceless...

i have PS 7, not CS. it's coming, like i said. and i agree about the light..
