It depends on what you are keeping. Some corals and other animals like more flow than others.

in my sps tank I have about 45 times turnover. those little polyps are always out in the flow.

Thanks Boozeman..... there is turnover (thru sump) then there is flow... major differance in the two...

ahhh your after my my heart arent you. i too have lots and lots of flow 35ish x turnover in the main tank. the sump is a 45gal and has about 600gph running through it, i guess its about 3-4X total water volume.

i keep acropora at the top then at the bottom soft coarls and clams star polyps. my maxi jets give to much jets of water
