I've even done a water change with and without cleaning the skimmer to compare the results, neither made a difference. Could it be that the bioload is really low and the skimmer just doesn't have much to clean right away? It's more odd than anything. The tank is 4 1/2 months old (150 gallon) and only has 5 small fish.
