I wouldnt trust the pump again....I would def get rid of it and replace it. I had a fire from my tank (faulty powerstrip) and I sure would not take the risk

I dont see why a powersurge or something like that could not have released electricity into the tank...IMHO I would think some sort of surge occured somewhere...but SW is definately highly conductive!

How old are your test kits. You might want to take a sample to your LFS and have them check it also to make sure your kits are not bad.

Also add some carbon and Prime....that kept me from loosing more fish after the fire...from the resulting soot getting into sump

Make sure that everything is plugged into a ground fault plug and that you also have high quality powerstrips.
