Hi does anyone use the marine land tidepool II filter on there reef tank?
And has anyone seen them on sale?

I used to use one on my 125 reef. I think it worked fairly well, it was just too small for that sized tank. Keep in mind that it is not a replacement for live rock and a DSB.

And if Mcdermott is anywhere close to Cinci, I still have it. I did drill a small hole in it for an auto top off float to be mounted.

You can modify them to be just an equipment sump, and do away with the media trays, but then again, why pay for something that you aren't going to use? Why not just get what you need to begin with? This hobby is expensive enough without having to buy and re-buy equipment as you upgrade...IMO, MUCH better (and cheaper) to spend a bit more at the start, and get the right stuff...
