Stuff happens, this is bad but this is part of the cost of being an oil driven economy. Everything from medicines to the plastic parts on your aquarium are all derived from oil.
Real easy to say we need to take more precautions, however, in the end there are always risks and mistakes will happen. We just need to deal with it, clean up and move on.
