Sump/refugium question

I'm setting up a new 75 gallon tank with a 30 gallon refugium underneath it, with a Bubble Magus Skimmer that will handle up to 150 gallons. Right next to where I am setting this up, is a 33 gallon hex where I keep damsels and some nasty hermits, and other fish that have gotten too nasty for my 125 gallon reef (bullies).
On the 33 hex, I currently have a Pro Clear sump with live rock that I use instead of the bio balls. Looking at the size of the new refugium and skimmer on the new 75 gallon, would it be so bad to remove the pro clear system and run it directly to the 75 gallon tanks refugium instead? I understand that the one downside is that if some disease is in one, it could spread to the other, but upside, it would seem that it would essentially expand the water content by the 33 gallons in the hex. Any feedback appreciated.

Thanks!
Dave
