Sump baffles

OK, so I've already built one sump. Starting to plan the sump for my next tank. Trying to recall my fluid dynamics, and am drawing a blank. I can't make the third baffle in an over-under-over layout taller than the first to raise the water level in the return section while keeping the skimmer section at one height, can I? I think that the water levels have to equalize before the water will flow over the third baffle, but I've been known to be wrong before.

No. The tallest "over" baffle will control the height in the sump. You can have the skimmer (first) section higher and all else lower but not the other way.

You answer me I answer you lol.

You can build a stand out of eggcrate for your skimmer to put it up higher out of the water in your sump if you need to.

I'll probably just go with something really tall with lots of volume in the fuge section and the return in the middle.
