Stuart, Congrats on the new tank. Question though, are you adding only RO water to your live sand or is it mixed saltwater?

If it is RO water only with no salt, you are "nuking" your live sand where it would basically just be "Sand". Most Live Sand are packaged with films of ocean/salt water to maintain the live organisms in the sand.

In addition, if you are planning on having a CUC, it is typically best to put the live rock on the bare bottom and then place your sand. This way, your rock has a solid surface that cant be disturbed by burrowing snails, etc. I would also recommend a sand depth of 2"-3".
