Strange Sand sifter behaviour

I just merged two tanks into one big one and each tank had a sand sifter. Since I put them both in, the larger one has covered the smaller one and has been there for many days now. They seem to move around the tank but the one remains on the other.
Anyone know whats going on here?

So its been a month and they are apart now. No one got eaten and things seem to be back to normal. They were in that position all around the tank for the longest time. Maybe three weeks... Sometimes they go on top of one another again but not nearly for that long.

No babies that I can see... at least not yet.

+1 on the baby making, I have mini stars that are doing it all the time and there are lots of them now.......so, that would be a safe bet. :D

3 weeks to make a baby?

I wouldn't have the energy, interest, inclination or patience!

I am so glad i am not a starfish, i don't have the stamina. Much rather clean my tank :)
