Starting to see a little algae...

Hey Gang,

My 28g tank is around 5 months old and I'm starting to see some algae on the rock that has been in there since day 1. Also I'm finding I have to scrape the glass every day. Is this bad? The algae seems to be green and maroon...and it blows in the current.

Any advice? Is this bad? Thanks for helping an algae newbie!

Looks like cyanobacteria.

Tank looks pretty clean. Possibly a little cyano. Do you have any clean up crew in the tank? (Snails)
If thats the only spot it's no biggie. Siphon it out and be done with it. You can consider a small clean up crew to keep things in ship shape.

Your tank is still young. The green algae looks like the start of hair algae. You will battle algae for the first year of your tanks life. Your water is maturing.
