Spirobis are spreading everywhere! I know they border on beneficial, but damn are they ugly. How do i exterminate them? i cant just scrape all of em off my rock and glass! Also, my snails are sluggish because of high nitrate. Will a water change help, and how do i quickly tell if they are dead so they dont decompose and kill more snails in a vicous cycle?

I'm not familiar with the type of snail you're talking about but as far as the nitrates go, yes, a water change would help. Assuming a clean rodi water change, a x% water change would reduce the nitrates by that x%.

He must be talking about Spirorbis spp. (the 2-4mm white spots that proliferate all over the glass). I've read they reproduce when there's an excess of waste. They're not harmful, just not good looking.

Nitrates at 100ppm is very high. I would do a 20% water change each day until it returns to normal limits. Are you missing a large specimen in your tank? When was your last water change?
