Siphon breaking

I woke up this morning to find the siphon on my 55g had stopped draining to my 10g refugium. I started the siphon back, I came home to the same problem happened. I not sure of the Overflow box brand, but it has the U-tube. Anyone ever experienced this?

don't you need an air pump thingy to keep that from happening? thats how the three i set up like that were??

Thanks for the advice Dave, it turned out to be the prefilter blocked the flow of the return pump.
