need some advice in what to look for and what to stay away from. i am not wanting to spend too much, maybe around 200 and not much more. i am sick and tired of paying for my water. and lucky for me the water bill is included in my rent. so having said all that............. i am needing help in this area, cause i have always purchased my water at the LFS.

also, where does one get there ro water tested, and what are you testing for?

I think there's little to differentiate between manufacturers of these units - the membranes and prefilters/carbon blocks are more or less universally the same. Go for the one with the features and flow rate you need and find the best deal you can.
