Ok, well this afternoon I received the Reef Care Program kit.

I have not used it yet but wanted to show what was included and to be honest it surprised me how much there was. As I use them I will post my results.

I just tested out the first test kit. (KH, Ca, Mg)

My impressions. The instructions were great, the equipment is also very good (like the small tips for the end of the titrator syringes fit snugly and are air tight, unlike the ones in my stock test kits). The graduation on them is very good and easy to read at even between 0.01ml hash marks. Reagents are stamped with the lot code they came from and what the expiration date for the kit is. The kit has seperate glass test vials for each test as well as seperate titration syringes and tips which are color coded so you know which one to use with which test. There are a significant amount of reagents, so 60-75 tests before you need a refill.

Since it was my 1st time using them it took me about 10 mins to test those three params, but now that I know the drill I am sure it will be faster in the future.

Also there are great videos explaining how to use these tests on youtube that RedSea posted. Very helpful. Seeing it done and reading about how it should be done are not always the same thing.

Over all, I am very impressed so far.

For the record my DK was 9.1 (still working to raise that up a bit), Ca was 500, and mg was about 1500.

Just ran a second KH and Ca test. dKH is now 12.6 (after adding some of the Reef Foundation B after the first test the other day). Ca is a bit lower. about 490 now.

Next test will be for Iodine, Potassium and Iron. Now that I have used it, these tests only took a couple minutes.

Iodine came out at about 0.04, so just a tad low, but not bad.

testing iron now. this test needs 15 mins to complete.

Iron was a very close to zero, so a bit anemic.

Potassium, which so far was the most involved test shows about 400ppm.

Hi Chris
How did you find the colour change with the potassium test blue to purple or purple to blue? Can't remember which way round now
I found it very difficult to see a clear colour change to get an exact reading

Potassium is purple to blue. I didnt find it difficult to see the change at all. Probably within .02ml of titrant.

Latest update on water tests with this kit. I did Ca, DKH, Mg, PO4 and NO3 today.

Ca = 450
KH = 11.1
Mg = 1400 (is this too low?)
PO4 was pretty close to 0.36, is this too high?
NO3= between 0.25 and 0.50ppm
I didnt test pH today but its always pretty close to 8.3/8.4
