I recently purchased a 1.5" frag of war coral and since placing it in my tank about two weeks ago, some of the edges have begun to turn white and I haven't seen feeder tentacles recently at all.

This could be from a number of causes, but since it's a new coral and the damage is at it's hight points, I'd first suspect that this is damage during shipping. Other problems could be water quality, lighting, and other livestock eating it.

I purchased from LFS, where it looked completely healthy in their frag tank. It's sitting under 165w black box leds. I haven't seen anything overly interested in it, even checking during the middle of the night.

its your lighting.....mine always did that until i shaded it.......and i really had to shade it to make it stop. then it got really dark red.
