Preditor tank question

I wanna set up a Preditor tank with an eel and a lionfish and maybe a few fish I can't put in my reef. What's ur take on eels? I hear mixed things about them. I have heard that some are calm and tamed to an extent and that some bite everytime u put ur hand in the tank. I value reef santuarys opinion and would like to hear it. Any other ideas as to fish stockings? Could a mantis and an eel go together?

Ill tell you about my experience with an eel... ... it ate everything but i had small fish and it was a reef tank but in a predator tank it will be good as long as all the fish are big. I don't no if a mantis and an eel can go together.
