Overflow/Closed Loop Question

I already have 100gal acrylic tank with center overflow on order. I'm thinking about going with closed loop system now. My question is now can the center overflow still be used for anything or will the closed loop pretty much make it useless?

Do you have a sump? if so that is what uses the overflow. The closed loop is just that, it takes water form the tank to a pump and back to the tank. All they are used for is flow.

Use the overflow to feed your sump/refugium, and drill the tank for the closed loop.
