Can anybody tell me a real good reason whether or not I should be controlling redox or orp in the tank, do I really need that whole setup for my system? Excuse me if I didnt make complete sense on this subject.. I have run successful tanks for years and I never had such a setup. Maybe im missing out on something...

A majority of hobbyists run their tanks without this device. You will almost always see those that use ozone monitoring ORP for obvious reasons. The other reason some use this is to monitor for changes. A steap drop in ORP could indicate that something has died or that the water chemistry has changed and alert you to investigate further.

It's just another way to monitor your tank. When you run out of other bells and whistles, consider this one!
