What do you think of this modification?
After I had my tank set up for a week i started to worry about my live rock falling if something dug under it, so I drained the tank and took out all the rock and sand(which eliminated the concern, but made for a boring tank )

I then use egg crate and PVC pipe to make a support for the rock. I was happy with the result until today when iread another post that implied trapped water was death to the tank.

Would this be any different than a deep sandbed- it seems like stagnent water would be at the bottom of the deep sand bed??

My concern is the water under the pipe- which are drilled every 2"

Why not just put down your rock before you put in sand... then nothing can get under

I was told that having the rock buried deep in the sand was no good either

We used to use these years ago we called it a plenum I believe. Turned ugly with nitrates.

........wet floors add character.
