New to Chaeto...Any Suggestions?

I have a BC14 and have been having trouble with nitrates and am looking at adding chaeto to my media basket.
Right now my mediabasket has:
1st - filter floss (Changed biweekly to weekly)
2nd - carbon
3rd - nitrate sponge
I also have a UV sterilizer (on for 12hrs/day), protein skimmer, and LR & live sand.

To add the chaeto i was planning on putting it in the second chamber of the media basket and doing a carbon/nitrate sponge mix in the third chamber. I'm adding an led light to help the chaeto grow and i think i have sufficient flow to keep the chaeto healthy. What to you think? Anything else I should look at?

I have heard stories about the chaeto getting into the main tank and the pumps and causing a mess and a ton of headaches (along with costing lots of time and money) so I'm a little nervous to try this technique but i am really sick of high nitrates. My fish and coral are doing fine but I'm sick of worrying.

Also, anybody have some chaeto that they are willing to donate to help me get started? I'm located near Bangor, ME.
