Need help with Cyano

Just a reefer
I can relate to that, lol
The cyano has a food source, thats what you are going after. On new tanks they have the same problem but that is from LR die off or the first bacteria population flux. From the sounds of your previous feeding habits I would guess you have just fill the bed up. doing what you are doing now will only help the bed and give it a fighting chance.

Nigle do have a name on those phosphate eating bacteria?? I didnt know any did that.

Yeah I've feed heavy ever since I've had the LR, and that was since last april so I can see that. With the increased flow, I've noticed less, but where it's dense in the areas it affects. It's even on the acrylic walls. I was thinking of getting some phoseguard to help while I do the cleaning, and see what happens.
One question though. Do I have to grind the sand between my fingers, or could I poke it with something to break the phosphate bonds?

Thanks
