Need help - think it may be fighting

Need some advice. I have a sail fin that showed some fin damage that started to heal up about a month ago. Two nights ago I was staring at my tank and happy with what I saw. I did take not of his fin and he was looking much better. Yesterday we woke up to this. I did a water change, turned down the intensity and the time of my lights and don't know what else to do. We added garlic infused seaweed for him to much on.

He is eating great, swimming consistently and not showing any signs of stress. The damage has no slime or signs of a disease, but this can't be good. Any thoughts?

Looks like your fish really took a beating from something, but it could also get damaged by rushing through your rocks and such. Tangs can be very skittish at times. Sailfin tangs also need a really huge tank, about 180 gal, and they also need quite a bit of tank height so they can get those large fins up. If there is no damage to the body of the fish, the fins usually regenerate just fine.
