they split when stressed but I am sure they would also split when they are heathy as well.
I guess if a nem was frantically moving all over the tank and they suddenly decided to split it would be doing it as a last resort
to insure his kind survives. but a healthy one that has found his happy spot you our tanks may take longer to split and maybe do it less often. I have friends who's RBTA splits every six months or so and he sells them he said the RBTA are much more likely to split then the GBTA and that the RBTA are hardier than the greens. they are amazing creatures.

My RBTA has been healthy and growing while stretching for a couple of months. is that normal?

I have had my long tentical for 10 years or so along with some seabae that are just as old and they have never split nor move around the tank at all. The LTA opens up to about 22 inches across when fully extended and is still growing. How can I get mine to split??
