I know I took about a two year break but I had (still have not running) MR-2 skimmer. I never see these mentioned anymore. I used this skimmer back then and it did an outstanding job. What do you guys think of these. Are these newer skimmers that much better? What are your pros/cons with them.

Good skimmers, the downside is the pump requirements and cleaning the becketts. MRC is also under new ownership, they are owned by Southeast Aquarium now out of Atlanta. Sounds like they are doing a good job so far.
I personally like the needlewheel skimmers only because I think the intial cost is lower to get into.
