Lighting Help with old Ballasts

Hi all!
Got a question. I was diggin around in my attic and found 3 48 inch light fixtures that each house 2 40 watt t12 bulbs. Maybe I'm trying to be a cheap a$$ here, but I figured this might be a great way to save some cash for my new tank build I'm getting ready for. I plugged them all in and they all work. I pulled one of them open and the ballsts are all as follows:

BenchLite
120 Volts
60 Hertz
.85 Amps
Class P Type 1 Outdoor
Sound Rated A

I was thinking of chucking the housing, using the ballasts, wiring, and (endcap?), getting individual reflectors and mounting everything inside a hood that I can make. Thoughts? Advice?

Unless you are setting up a fish only tank, where lighting is not an issue, don't waste your time.

40w normal output bulbs just can't provide the light needed for a reef system. They don't even come close.

Get yourself a lighting system worthy of your reef.
