A few months back I tore the tank down to make some changes. One of those changes was I wanted to redo the light that was over the tank. I was only going to change the housing itself, before the lights were housed in a box that contained the heatsinks, drivers, P/S etc. I wanted something sleeker and not so bulky so I decided to turn the heatsinks into the fixture itself. Here's what I came up with.
Here's what I started with....eh.
So I picked up some 2" x 1/2" 1/8" wall aluminum channel and did this.
I then decided I wanted to add T5's to it.
I also decided I didn't want to use the conduit for the light hangers anymore so I had a buddy make these up. They're made from 1" aluminum square tubing w/corner gussets.
Still need to add a few more coats but so far so good.
And a quick mock up for the T5's
Final light will consist of
x4 Bridgelux Vero 10 90CRI 5k whites
x8 Luxeon K 8up royal blues
x28 Exotic 430nm hyper violets
x8 Luxeon Limes
x2 39w T5's (unsure about bulb color still)
