Is this sponge? lichen? what?

This stuff has been growing for a while now and I just realized...I don't know what it is! Is it sponge? It looks like terrestrial tree lichen. I'm talking about the gold stuff center photo

OK, it is Padina algae, commonly called Scroll Algae.

I have had it in my tank for years and love it. Its very sensitive to it's placement and can die off just from moving it from one place to another.
