Is there a science to Aquascaping live rock?

Anyone use acrylic rods when making their aquascape?

Acrylic rods do work, but have you priced acrylic plastic lately?

If you can, use PVC pipe, since it's comparatively cheep.

Those arent PVC, those are the Tunze rock power head covers.

I'm adding pictures of @David Shaw 's tank. He always is changing his RSM 500 & keeps it super clean. That's why we call him: Mr.Clean

Wow that was so long ago lol. I was a rookie when I made this post. My tanks have gone thru many transformations lol.

When I learned to balance dry rock and use Acrylic rods...

Now I have gone Simple. 1 Big structure in the middle and 2 smaller ones on the side.

Changed it last night into 3 islands. In person it doesn't look so empty and you can see alot more detail

I used large rock on the bottom and flatter rock on top. no need for rods. by the way, you can cut up plastic cloths hangers. they are safe and cheap. I went for caves instead of arches as I think they are better for the fish. mine go all the way through the rocks. not the greatest looking scape, but my fish seem happy so I'm afraid to change anything. thinking of adding a few rocks on one island.

Make sure you have some overhangs and bridges to accommodate your lower light species of corals like shrooms.
