Help-Eshopps PSK 75 H

Sorry if this has been dealt with. I don't have the search feature available to me at the moment. I hooked up my Eshopps the other day and the amount of micro bubbles entering the tank through the black foam is insane.
2 questions- how do I resolve this? And shouldn't there be some sort of valve on the top of the air intake tube that sits at the collection cup? Or does it just stay wide open sucking maximum air.

During the break in skimmers seem to send a lot of bubbles into the tank. I always send them through some added filter pad to break them up. Try to pop them. With the tube you can use an air stone on the end. The better solution would be a silencer.. This would allow for more air flow.
