Heater and Apex Lite Controller

Hi all,
Quick question.
Since I have the apex controlling the heater, should I turn the heater up to something like 85?
Also setting the controller to shut it off at 79 and turn it on again at 77.5?

No I wouldn't turn the heater up that high. Whenever possible it's best to plan for the worst case scenario. If something happened to the Apex and the socket was stuck on, the heater could cook the tank. I would set the heater slightly higher than the target temp

I set the heater for 79. I set the controller to turn it on at 78 or below, to turn it off at 80, and to send an email alert if it falls below 77 or above 83. Tank stays at about 79. Hope this helps.

Remember you have to setup the temp range for your chiller and/or cooling fans as well and you don't want the temps to overlap. I would suggest dialing the heater back to around 77F. Cooler tank helps to slow the growth of nuisance algaes.
