Ok i just put my sand in my tank and i hate it its flat as aparking lot. before i had small tanks but now with a 6 ' tank it make a difference and i find that the even bottom looks, well flat. Is it possible to make hills without making a DSB by accident and the trouble it brings, thats my concerns. It like to make some kind of different levels without the problem of the DSB , anyone tried that. Thanks for your input.

If you make hills, it will flatten out after a while due to current and the critters moving around. Go for it. Don't see any issues w/it.

After I vacuum my sandbed, I have hills, but they never stay.

Hi friend, ironically my sandbed is opposite, I like my sand flat, but powerheads creates miny hills. It may be possible to create what you desire with powerheads, but livestock may not enjoy excessive flow. Another method you can try would be manually create, with wooden cooking spoon, each water change, just some ideas :)
