Fans vs heat...

I just wanted to pass along something I learned this weekend. I don't know why I never thought of this before.

My canopy has 2 x 4" fans; one blowing inward, the other outward. The thing is, my tank sits in a corner of a room and the out-blowing fan was blowing into the corner which of course heated the wall and the surrounding air between the tank & wall. I had a brain storm and switched the fans so now the out-blowing fan is pushing the hot air away from the tank and into the open room!. It made about a 1.5 degree difference in the temp today.... maybe a bit more. I hope this is helpful to someone else out there!

If you've got a canopy with enough room you can use an ice pack for the fan to blow over to cool it down some too.

Thanks for always brain storming Doni! We will keep that in mind when we get around to setting up a new tank. It will be a divider between the kitchen and living room so, one end will be near a wall!

Fans blowing into the canopy will always be cooler then blowing outwards.
