I have been looking closer at my star polyps which are doing good but i notice a difference in thier appearence and their growth. One is just the tentical looking ones and are growing moderitally slow. The second one are more looking like palm tree leaves and are growing quickly, why are they different from each other.

There are a lot of different species under the common name "star polyps".
I've seen all brown to metallic green coloration.

Keep in mind that different colors may need different light spectrums to optimize their symbiotic algaes.
The size of the colony could also play a factor as they are all usually connected through 1 big matte base and share nutrients that way.

They are all individuals.
Hope this has helped.

thanks i thought it was something like that but just didnt know.

Also the line gets a little blurry between different species. There are some anthelias that bear a striking resemblence to star polyps.
Some have feather like arms, bigger smaller etc.
