Diatom Bloom?

Okay, so a couple of weeks ago my buddy gave me his 10 gallon reef tank. It's got some Pink Anthelia, some Zoanthids, and a blue-legged hermit crab in it.

Well, things were going well, and the corals were open and perky. Then, one day, I woke up and the whole tank was brown, but the corals were still doing good. My buddy told me that this was a diatom bloom, and it would clear up on it's own.

But it's getting worse. It's covering my glass, substrate, all of my liverock, and all my equipment. Also, all my coral looks sickly.

Can y'all help?

Hello  and :welcomera WELCOME to Reef Sanctuary!
Do you have a SW test kit? What are your water parameters?
Ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, & Ph?
When was your last water change? What kind of filtration are you running?

im going through the same thing with my 32 gallon and probably will with my newly 75 gal. it's apparently normal :p to an extent. what i also found out is that i had 'red slim' as well. so i had to do a treatment for that and a few water changes.. the water is a bit cloudy, but overall it's slowly improving. your tank IMO is cycling... im about 1 month in myself
