What you will need:
1 x 3/4 inch elbow
1 x 1 inch elbow
1 x 3/4 inch x 3/4 inch x 1/2 inch T connector
1 x 1 foot air tubing

Attach at least 1 foot of nylon tubing to the end of the silencer. Make sure to cut the very end of the tubing at an angle (not the end connected to the silencer). The goal of the tubing is to eliminate the whistling of the silencer.

Assemble the rest of the pipe pieces in the following configuration. The outlet for the skimmer fits the 3/4 inch elbow perfectly. You don't need the T, but there are added benefits as well as bubble containment purposes.

It is hard to see from this picture, but the return T will trap all the bubbles and send them straight to the top. The 1/2 inch outlet on the T constantly sprays the skimmer intake screen to prevent debris buildup. The other added benefit is a free low flow powerhead. Also, the new return system allows better water flow and will allow the skimmer to skim more efficiently. The return eliminates the huge bubble trap and avoids waste buildup. It is all around better than the return tubing and bubble trap provided at a cost of only 2 dollars.

That's awesome! Do you have more pictures of this thing put together and in action? I might do this.
