Cleanup crew question

When is the best time to get a cleanup crew going, it's been three years since I've been on this forum too. I'm a little rusty with reef keeping also.

You need to monitor the cycle in your tank and wait for the ammonia spike to come and go. My rule of thumb is cleanup crew no sooner than 15 days after adding live rock and starting your cycle.

Then CUC to your hearts content. I would wait 2 weeks after the cleanup goes in to add the first fish and corals, unless you already did that.

If you are going to add a CUC, go slow. Depending on the size of your tank, start off with only a handfull of snails & maybe one scarlet hermit crab. See how they do for awhile and then adjust the population accordingly. There's really no point in buying a ton of critters right off the bat only to watch your tank balance out the population for you. Having the least amount of janitors is really what you want to stive for IMO. GL.
